Description: | Rob Black is also the operator of Underdog Entertainment, a group trying to push the post-rave movement out in Ottawa. He's been DJing out at local high profile events since "Village of the Damned" in 2004. He has just recently begun releasing productions independently under his moniker "RBK", occasionally playing some original material live. Trends of his music while djing include: acid effects, high-pass filters, cut-up vocals, dirty basslines, occasionally mixing on three turntables and small amounts of turntablism.
Depending on what the party is, Rob could bring up anything from Acid House/Breaks/Techno/House/Tech-House, Nuschool/Oldschool/Chemical/Florida Breaks, Break-Trance, Grime, Trip Hop, Glitch Hop, Turntablism, Slower Breakcore/IDM/Breakbeat Hardcore, Hard/Filter Techno, Proto-House, Big Beat, Glitch/Glitchey Breaks, Noize, Ambient, sometimes even bits of Indy Rock, etc, etc, etc. In other words, he really doesn't limit himself, and can fit into any party.
He's more interested in elements of music than genres, so what you can expect in a performance from him is a lot of genre skipping while keeping the beat rocking. |
