i follow a trail to my secret place
a cave behind a waterfall
on a sheer rock face
it's quiet, calm, and soothing there
if i keep the location secret
who is there to care
i go off sometimes to be alone
to contemplate my life
and see how i have grown
i look deep inside this heart of mine
see many things have changed
becoming who i wanted to be for a time
its comforting to me to have this retreat
to roar of water deafens soundings of feet
my comings and goings the passing of time
a unique impression of writings and rhyme
solice i seek from this world of pain
from which soon i must return again
do i deny myself this simple pleasure
to go retrieve what i most treasure
answers to questions only i can scry
and a secure should on which to cry
something to love and call my own
where i can reap the seeds ive sown
realize no matter what happens outside
inside with care i can be allowed to feel pride
at the sate in which i keep my place
no reason to rush things, why compete, why race
the finish is ever in sight
at my secret place i set things right
heal my hurts and remember my pleasures
good times, bad times, treasures treasures
back to my place on a trail less taken
