birch bark canoe
warm summer day
lightly blowing wind
within it reeds sway
starlit evening mists
night falling anew
paddling slowly but
purposefully through
a sparrow cries out
marine life splashes
startled by strangeness
in foliage a deer crashes
ground the boat
set up shelter
start a fire enjoy
just being alive
sharpen your senses
brighten your mood
a chance for peace
soul seeking for food
tomorrow will come
for now relax
when the sun arises
you will make tracks
the night breeze is chill
for a midsummers eve
take a visual escapade
to the way things i see
allow yourself to breathe
every fiber of life into it
lie back and allow
for words to take you away
to a relaxing summer day
