CANNABIS CONFUSION (2)
Sir: whilst there are many sound reasons to support David Blunkett's
reclassification of cannabis, Lauren Booth's support for the drug on the
grounds of it being a "natural herb" is surely not one of them
("Confessions of a Cannabis Smoker, 25 October).
Heroin and Morphine, although requiring more processing than cannabis, have
an equally natural source in the opium poppies, as does cocaine in the coca
leaf.
In the field of drugs, at least, "Natural" cannabis cannot be equated with
"healthy" or "harmless".
