COSTLY WAR ON DRUGS

It looks as if this war on terrorism will be costing all of us taxpayers a
lot of money while increasing the size and authority of law-enforcement
agencies. I agree with the majority view that this war is a noble one and
worthy of being waged. But I strongly suggest to government at all levels
that it greatly curtail spending on the well-intentioned but foolhardy,
expensive and destructive war on drugs, and use the billions saved here
tracking down real criminals like terrorists, murderers and other dangerous
felons.

Drug abuse is not a crime; it is a health problem.
