DON'T MOCK MEDICAL POT
THE cartoon on the front page of Oct. 30 was quite offensive.
It is insensitive in the placement of its content. As a local involved in
the medical cannabis movement, I find the sarcasm and humor directed at the
quality of people's lives tragic.
Every day I see people affected positively by the environment created by the
cannabis clubs around The City. These places allow sick people to gather and
exchange information and good will.
To associate crack, guns and organized crime with prescription cannabis
under the guise of cartoon humor is irresponsible journalism. Not to mention
the fact that the cartoon has no story attached to it and is placed under a
headline about terrorism.
As part of a movement fighting for the rights of sick people to use cannabis
as medicine, I think we need all the positive public relations we can get.
