RENTERS' PRIVACY SHOULD BE A PRIORITY

Editor:

Re: "Monthly inspections would stop grow ops," Richmond Review, Oct 28.

Renters are already disenfranchised. We shouldn't attack them further.

I'm glad BC Hydro doesn't give out renters' information to landlords. I'm
glad Ben Larsson is aware renters' privacy is in jeopardy.

But both of them could do more. BC Hydro should not give the tenant's
information to the landlord after the tenant moves out. And I disagree with
Larsson that monthly property inspections are needed.

Renters' privacy should be our top priority. Operation Green Clean sends
the message to me that the War on Drugs is really about stripping away the
personal freedom and civil liberties that Canadians have fought and died
for all these years.
