REPUBLICAN AGENDA

EDITOR: Regarding U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft's order to
criminalize Oregon doctors who prescribe federally controlled drugs in
support of Oregon's assisted-suicide law, I thought that the Republicans
were supposed to be strong on states' rights.

It seems that the Republicans are better described as champions of states'
rights only as long as those rights conform to the Republicans' moral
agenda. Sounds a lot like their position on legalizing medical use of
marijuana.

At least they are good at making war, which, right now, seems like a good
thing.
