ROSENBAUM SPEAKS ON TEENS AND DRUGS

Marsha Rosenbaum, a medical sociologist and director of the San Francisco
office of the Lindesmith Center-Drug Policy Foundation, will speak about
"Teenagers and Drugs" Nov. 15 at 7:30 p.m. at Haight School.

Rosenbaum, who has a high school student, wrote three books, "Women on
Heroin, Pursuit of Ecstasy," "The MDMA Experience" with Jerome E. Beck, and
"Pregnant Women on Drugs: Combating Stereotypes and Stigma," with Sheigla
Murphy.

Co-chair of international conferences on drug education and the principal
investigator of 10 grants funded by the National Institute of Drug Abuse,
Rosenbaum believes youths have difficulty abstaining from substance
experimentation because the messages they receive from adults about drug
use have been silly or simplistic.

The free presentation is sponsored by the Alameda PTA Council for all
parents in the school district.

Haight School is located at 2025 Santa Clara Ave.
