Re: Advocate of sterilizing addicts coming to Toronto, Nov. 15. If I
thought it would help, I'd pay Barbara Harris US$200 to sterilize herself.
I wouldn't want her bizarre ideas passed down to the next generation. The
problem is that her type of thinking can't be eliminated genetically. It's
one thing to want to give choices to people caught in the cycle of
addiction. But paying them US$200 for sterilizing themselves smacks of
"ethnic cleansing," as if drug addiction is some genetic weakness we can
breed out of our society. With this type of thinking, she will likely end
up working for the federal government.
