TEAMS SENT IN TO FIGHT SPREAD OF DRUGS IN 400 VILLAGES ALONG BORDER

The Internal Security Operations Command has sent 65 anti-drug teams to
operate in about 400 villages along the Thai-Burmese border.

Col Burapa Tawichai, Isoc spokesman, said the teams were conducting
psychological operations in methamphetamine-infested villages.

They were also to open 240 camps to train community leaders to fight the
spread of drugs.

According to the officer, the amount of speed pills seized along the border
dropped to 2.03 million pills in October, compared to 3.54 million in
September. In total, 73.27 million speed pills were seized between January
and October this year.
