A WASTEFUL WAR
TO THE EDITOR:
The U.S. House has approved another $1.4 million for
anti-methamphetamine programs in Oklahoma, including $1 million to
buy and equip a mobile field command post to assist in meth cleanup
operations. Unfortunately, history shows these command posts do
nothing to alleviate the root reason that people turn to meth or
other hard drugs.
If Oklahomans really want to reduce the harm of drugs and the harm of
a drug war to their children, we should focus on the root causes of
drug use. We've been fighting the drug war, a war against America's
own citizens, for 96 years. When will we look for real alternatives?
