ON SMOKING POT
Medical marijuana enjoys widespread support. A Pew research poll found that
70 percent of Americans favor allowing doctors to prescribe marijuana to
patients in need. Frankly, I'm surprised that The Post would see fit to
publish the transparent misinformation contained in Joyce Nalepka's Nov. 19
letter. According to Ms. Nalepka, kids in drug treatment frequently say,
"Everyone says pot is medicine. I thought it might be good for you -- and
before I knew it I was hooked." Do Post editors really believe that kids
smoke pot because they want to emulate the cancer and AIDS patients who
rely on the drug to combat nausea? What are you people smoking?
