ASHCROFT'S MISGUIDED POLICIES TARGET AMERICANS

Thank you for printing Ellen Goodman's column concerning John
Ashcroft's political crusade that's terrorizing sick and dying
Americans.

Unfortunately Goodman missed an earlier act of terrorism by Ashcroft
and his henchmen just one week prior to Sept. 11. In an incident that
went largely unreported outside of Michigan, FBI sharpshooters
slaughtered two of America's sons and burned a local campground,
Waco-style, in a dispute over music festivals and pro-marijuana
events.

So, while Attorney General John Ashcroft fiddled at the Rainbow
Campground massacre, the World Trade Center was about to suffer the
deadly consequences of his folly. Ashcroft clearly needs to get his
priorities straight, but maybe he needs a little guidance.

Maybe it's time to focus the Justice Department's energies on a real
threat and stop threatening our fellow Americans.
