CANNABIS SMOKING
Okay, so we all know just how little time Rosemary MacLeod has for cannabis
smokers (Waikato Times, November 14), but so what? I'm no fan of rugby or
cars and my brain switches off whenever anyone starts on such topics, but
that wouldn't make for a very compelling newspaper column now, would it?
"Regular users of dak . . . (are) not universally admired" claims Ms
Macleod. Really? What about John Lennon, Sir Paul McCartney and Bob Marley
- -- all potheads and artistes extraordinaire. And how about Carl Sagan?
MacLeod is right to link terrorism with the drugs trade, but that's purely
a consequence of insidious prohibition laws which raise the price of these
substances well into the bracket where so few can make so much money in so
short a time.
