UN-FAB FOUR

I have just finished reading Mark Brown's fawning sugar-coated column about
the Beatles [Dec. 3]. It was enough to make me gag! Especially the part
where Brown said the Beatles were "a giant step ahead of the mainstream in
everything from hairstyles to fashion, sex to social consciousness. And
they pulled us along with them."

However, he failed to mention that they were one of the first groups to
embrace drugs openly. In turn, they influenced many impressionable people
that drugs were OK. Just a way to have "fun" and expand your mind. Now of
course America is paying for it. The Beatles were just a bunch of druggies,
nothing else.
