DRUG COMMITTEE COMING TO ABBOTSFORD

If you have opinions on drug addiction, drug treatment, or what addicts and
their families need, Randy White wants to hear from you.

The Langley-Abbotsford MP is bringing the parliamentary standing committee
on drugs to Abbotsford on Thursday to the Azalea Room at the Clearbrook
Gardens (2825 Clearbrook Rd.) from 2:30-5:30 p.m.

He wants to hear from people who are addicts, who have addicts in their
families and from those who deal with and treat addicts in the community.
Those who wish to make an oral or written submission should call White's
Langley office at 604-856-2037 or 604-534-5955 to be added to the
presentation list.

The information will be taken by the five-member travelling committee,
which is meeting until the spring with people from across Canada and the
United States.

The special committee on non-medical drugs was struck earlier this year at
White's urging.

"In this town there are more than 40 prostitutes, and they're all addicted
to drugs. We have a problem in this community, and until now no one has
been pushing this issue. These are our daughters," he told a Canadian
Alliance audience Friday night.
