POLICE NEED TO DO THEIR JOB
To the editor:
Another drug dealer gets protection by the courts (Supreme Court Decision
May Pave Way to Reopen Strip-Search Case, The Daily News Dec. 8).
This country may as well lay off the majority of its police forces and save
the money they cost, as well as costs for useless court time. A few would
have to be kept on to arrest the "little" crook who cannot pay for
expensive defence lawyers.
All the money saved would not be available as someone would have to help
pay for the increase in deaths due to cocaine and other drug overdoses, and
the increase in crime brought on by the additional numbers of drug users
who begin stealing to support their habit. When will the lawmakers open
their eyes?
