FORGET 'DRUG WAR'
A recent editorial suggested that "The president and Congress cut
loose with enough money to bolster the ranks of border
law-enforcement agencies ..." While newspaper editors are quick to
suggest that more of our tax money be spent in the same wasteful
manner at a time when our economy is sputtering and resources are
stretched thin, I have a better idea.
Take some of the money we continue to pour into this ridiculous drug
war and accompanying prison state and redirect the funds to only
those agencies that fight terrorism.
Meanwhile, the government should quit harassing the pot smokers. They
aren't the problem. We cannot afford both a war on drugs and a war on
terrorism.
