Miami Woman Faces New Drug Charges

MIAMI, Okla. - A Miami woman faces new drug and weapon charges after
allegedly trying to give her probation officer someone else's urine sample.
Dana Louise Witcraft, 42, of 910 Quail Creek Drive, is charged with new
counts of possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana,
possession of marijuana with intent to sell, three counts of possession of
narcotics without a prescription, possession of a controlled dangerous
substance, possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to
sell within 2,000 feet of a school, possession of firearms while on
probation, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

She is free on $10,000 bond and is to return to court Friday with her attorney.

Witcraft pleaded no contest Nov. 7 in Ottawa County District Court to two
counts of possession of methamphetamine, two counts of possession of
narcotics without a prescription, possession of marijuana and possession of
drug paraphernalia.

She was given a five-year prison sentence, with three years deferred and
two years suspended, and was placed on probation supervision for two years.

According to a probable-cause affidavit filed by the district attorney's
drug task force, when Witcraft reported to her probation officer recently
for a urine test, she attempted to use a sample she brought with her in a
plastic bag. After being confronted with the deception, she took a test and
was shown positive for drug use, the affidavit said. She reportedly
admitted to her probation officer that she had been smoking marijuana.

The district attorney's office filed a motion to revoke her deferred and
suspended sentences. A bench warrant for her arrest was issued Dec. 20, and
officers went to her home to serve the warrant the next day.

Miami police officer David Dean states in the affidavit that when Witcraft
answered the door, she asked for time to change her clothes. Police
Detective Danny Green said she could, but he told her officers would have
to step into the house to wait.

Dean reported that the officers found a bronze smoking pipe with marijuana
residue. Green read Witcraft her Miranda rights and asked for permission to
search the house. She gave permission and cooperated with police.

Officers said they found five smoking pipes with crystallized
methamphetamine residue, several "snorting straws," four syringes, a glass
jar and plastic bags containing 35 rocks of methamphetamine, five plastic
bags of marijuana, seven plastic bags of powdered methamphetamine, six
smoked marijuana cigarettes, rolling papers, scales, prescription drugs,
two shotguns, and a .30-30-caliber rifle.

The evidence was tagged, and the drugs were sent to the Oklahoma State
Bureau of Investigation laboratory for analysis. Field tests were done at
the scene to identify the drugs.
