MARIJUANA PLANTS WORTH MILLIONS

CHINO HILLS - Authorities said the 1,300 marijuana plants found
inside a house in the city on Wednesday had a value of more than $4 million.

Firefighters had responded to a fire at the house in the 6000 block
of Park Crest Drive, but upon entering the residence found several
rooms filled with marijuana plants.

The 1,300 plants, all standing between 18 and 20 inches tall, were
fully grown, said San Bernardino County sheriff's spokeswoman Jodi Miller.

"The estimated wholesale value is $4,690,000," she said Thursday
afternoon. "There was no evidence that there was anybody residing at
the house."

The plants were grown using hydroponics techniques that utilize
indoor lights and nutrient filled liquids instead of outdoor sun and soil.

Attempts to reach the owner of the house were unsuccessful on Thursday.

Sheriff's investigators have not made any arrests related to this
incident, which is still under investigation.
