West Village Crime
To the Editor:
Re "Tolerance in Village Wears Thin; Residents Up in Arms Over Drug Deals
and Prostitution" (news article, Jan. 19):
West Village residents have a right not to be confronted with drug dealers
on their stoops, prostitutes in their vestibules, and sex solicitations on
their streets. As problems are swept from block to block reaching into the
heart of the residential community, the police must reconsider the manner
in which they address illegal activity so that the rights of the residents
are safeguarded.
My interest is in seeing more police attention directed at arresting
"johns" as a means of disrupting the prostitution trade.
