ZERO TOLERANCE OFFERS LEARNING BY EXAMPLE
Three cheers for the School Board's zero-tolerance policy involving drugs
in area schools ("Zero-tolerance policy can hit students hard," Jan. 27).
The Arnold High School student made the choice to bring an illegal
substance to school. She was caught. She was punished. This was not a minor
infraction, but a major infraction requiring a major consequence. The
School Board's decision to expel this student should be applauded, not
condemned. Other students can learn from this example.
