SHABU SUPPLY IN CITY SCARCE COP CHIEF SAY

Bacolod City Police Office Director Amado Marquez yesterday claimed
there is now a scarcity of the supply of shabu in Bacolod City but had
warned against an increase in the quantity of marijuana.

Marquez said shabu is very expensive these days which is probably what
made it very scarce. There is a big demand for it in the city, but it
is very expensive, he said.

Shabu is very rare nowadays, but watch out for marijuana, he warned.

He added that the Bacolod police are still continuing drug operations
in the barangays especially the drug-affected ones.

Meanwhile, reports said the BCPO Drug Enforcement Unit has been tagged
by suspects as the "cellphone gang" for confiscating cellphones of
suspects during drug raids.

But Marquez said the confiscation of cellphones is part of the raid,
especially if the item was used for drug transactions.

C/Insp. Rene Aspera told the DAILY STAR that his office has not yet
received any complaints about illegal confiscation of cellphones
during seizures.

"The complaint must be put in writing so it can be acted on as soon as
possible, but if it is just gossip, we can't solve it for sure",
Aspera added.
