CITIBUS CRASH

Re: The article "Car driver killed in Citibus crash" (A-J, 1-23).

I think it is absolutely appalling that Citibus would make this accident to
be all about the Citibus driver and investigate it.

Why in the world would he have to take a drug test and a physical two hours
after the collision? The collision occurred because the driver of the
Chevrolet Celebrity failed to stop at a stop sign.

In this article, the past history of Citibus and the past history of the
Citibus driver were mentioned. Yes, it was an awful tragedy; however, what
are these people thinking?

When you run a red light or a stop sign, this is the kind of thing that
happens. These types of situations just appall me that so much time would
go into a situation that was clearly not the fault of a veteran. Why should
he be subjected to such treatment after such a horrific incident?

(Editor's Note: Citibus officials had no choice. They note that the federal
Department of Transportation mandates post-accident drug and alcohol
testing as soon as possible when a transit vehicle accident results in
injury to any passenger. The crash marked the first traffic fatality
involving a Citibus vehicle.)
