ILLEGAL-DRUG CONNECTION

Regarding Mike Thomas' column about illegal drugs and the subsequent letter
to the editor from John Chase about decriminalizing drugs as we do alcohol
and tobacco: They are both so right, but we need to think of the legal
economics of illegal drugs to realize there is no solution to this problem.

Suppose we should legalize drugs. What are three-quarters of the lawyers,
judges, police officers, drug counselors, probation officers, jail guards
and the entire Drug Enforcement Agency going to do to earn a living?
