DEA AGENTS RAID MEDICINAL POT CLUB
SAN FRANCISCO - Federal agents raided a medical marijuana club and
arrested four people Tuesday amid an ongoing tug-of-war between local
and federal officials over the use of pot as medicine.
Drug Enforcement Administration agents seized 630 pot plants from the
Harm Reduction Center, which serves about 200 patients a day, all with
doctors' recommendations to get the drug, the DEA said.
The U.S. attorney's office said Kenneth Hayes and Ed Rosenthal were
charged with growing more than 100 pot plants.
Richard Watts, the marijuana club's executive director, also was
arrested, the club's security chief said. The identity of the fourth
man arrested was unclear.
