CHILDREN AFFECTED, TOO
A first-time nonviolent drug offender does society no good incarcerated for
indeterminate years. Such offenders leave behind children and families who
must also pay as price.
While school clinics close because of a lack of funds, we spend upward of
$30,000 per year per inmate. Where is our thinking, and when will our
legislators realize that the war on drugs has become a war on minority men
and women and that no one has won?
