DIVERSITY SPICES UP LETTERS COLUMN

It seems that all E.V. Rogers wants from the Opinion pages of his newspaper
is the same old opinions from the same old people (Feb. 10 guest column,
"Give our local readers priority in letters").

If that's all you want, you can head for the local tavern or coffee shop,
but newspapers are something much more than that. If you disagree with an
idea that a letter presents, you should write a rebuttal, not complain
about where the letter came from.

Of course, anyone who claims to know what everyone is thinking, in Texas or
anywhere else, probably isn't accustomed to formulating a coherent argument
on why, for instance, we should continue letting the federal government
tell us what to do about cannabis but not let them tell us what to do about
anything else.

Or is that idea just a "perversion"?
