ELDERLY COUPLE TO FILE CHARGES OVER SAN JUAN DRUG MUSEUM

An elderly couple, whose house was turned into a museum by police
authorities, threatened to file charges against the Philippine National
Police over the weekend.

Noribel Taguiba, media relations officer of the San Juan municipal
government told reporters that Yu Kim Chuy, 87, a businessman, together
with his wife Rosa Yu, were collecting evidence to file appropriate charges
against police authorities for commandeering their house located on Araullo
corner Montessori streets in Barangay Addition Hills.

Police had raided the said house for having a hidden illegal drug
manufacturing facility last January. Taguiba said the couple was just
renting the house to five Chinese nationals when the raid occurred.

The couple, he stressed, simply wants their property back.

"They are just ordinary business people who are merely trying to make a
living. They don't know what to do when they learned of the police raid.
This the first time they have experienced this kind of
treatment," Taguiba said. "They are now talking with their lawyer,
Vicente Cuna, on what charges to file against the PNP."

Earlier, the San Juan municipal council has passed a resolution urging the
concerned authorities to transfer the illegal drug manufacturing equipment
out of the municipality.
