MANITOBA MOVES AGAINST BOOZE CANS, DRUG DEN
Winnipeg -- The Manitoba government hopes new legislation will help shut
down drug dens, booze cans, sniff houses and prostitution dens.
Justice Minister Gord Mackintosh has officially proclaimed the Safer
Communities and Neighbourhoods Act. Under the act, investigators will look
into complaints about properties that "continually and habitually cause
problems."
The director of public safety will have the power to seek court orders to
have such buildings closed.
