N.C. PHARMACY BOARD ASLEEP AT SWITCH?
The worst news in "Tiny pharmacy had big painkiller trade" (Feb. 15) was
that a N.C. Board of Pharmacy investigator admitted knowing "for years"
that the Medi-Fare Discount Pharmacy in Grover led the nation in oxycodone
prescriptions. Come on, folks, we're talking about a town of 700, a
pharmacy operating out of a trailer and an opium-derived, totally addictive
drug. How many other pharmacies like this is the pharmacy board ignoring? It
says volumes that some Harris Teeter and Wal-Mart pharmacies no longer
filled Dr. Joseph Talley's prescriptions.
Thank heaven for the DEA and for decent doctors and pharmacists.
