LEGALIZE IT
Editor, The News:
J. Howell's letter about the effects of her husband's addiction on family
finances and her aggravation at the calls for new ways of dealing with the
drug issue are understandable.
They are, however, misplaced for it is the very drug treatment she is
"getting sick" of hearing about which is the only chance her family had
against that addiction under Prohibition.
Lest she forget, it was the drug war which made her husband's drugs so
artificially expensive and thereby drained the family finances into some
gangster's pocket.
With a regulated system of distribution her husband could have done his
cocaine until he was tired of it and still worked in the meantime.
