ENDORSING DRUG ABUSE
RE: "BOB backs needle park," Feb. 21. I have a serious problem with this
proposed program. As someone who has worked the streets myself and as a
former drug abuser I realize what people are trying to achieve with this
program. However, isn't it more or less endorsing drug abuse? Are they
going to start putting the needle in those people's arms that do drugs as
well? Yes, they will get medical assistance but at what cost? Aren't we
supposed to be trying to help get drug abusers off drugs. I suppose AADAC's
efforts will go down the drain if this program is actually launched. The
city should not be involved with endorsing drug abuse or making it easier
for drug abusers to stay on drugs.
