KEEP IT TO YOURSELF
To the Editor:
What makes (letter writer) Redford Given think people who abuse drugs can
raise families, hold jobs and avoid criminal activity? Is he familiar with
most cases of child abuse and domestic violence? Can he guess a common
ingredient in most cases?
Illicit drugs are legal in Amsterdam. He should try moving there. I wonder
how long until the social problems drug abuse causes would drive him back
to San Francisco -- or Tuscumbia?
Wait. He shouldn't come here. I do not appreciate his placing the blame on
our district attorney or on our law-abiding society.
He should feel free to lobby for illicit drug use in his home state of
California.
I'm sure the people without power and people without jobs because of
technology company layoffs feel the right to drug use is the most important
issue right now.
Otherwise, I suggest that he keep his preference for criminal activity and
defense of criminals to himself. As a community and as a nation, we have
more important people to help and more important people to protect.
