HAVEN'T LEARNED YET
It seems Frank Powell ("That's a brilliant idea," March 2) never read
about our country's so-called "Noble Experiment" known as alcohol
prohibition.
Since the repeal of alcohol prohibition, gun battles in the streets
between liquor sellers have disappeared. Since the repeal of alcohol
prohibition, liquor consumers are no longer dying or going blind from
"bathtub gin."
After prohibition ended in 1933, the U. S. murder rate declined for 10
consecutive years.
Have we learned any lessons? Not yet.
