ALCOHOL CHANGES COMMUNITIES
The residents of Faulkner County voted to keep the sale of alcohol out of
the county and it has done that for the most part. Several places have been
allowed to sell under various guises, such as country clubs and dinner pla
ces. This should have never happened as it is only a lawyer's method of
getting around the law.
There have been articles about making Faulkner County a wet county by
petitioning for a new election.
I would not fight against that as that is the American way. I do fight
against trying to get around the law. The state beverage commission should
see this and not even allow these to happen.
As long as this is happening and has happened, it reminds me of what has
happened to several of the retirement communities in parts of Arkansas.
People from out of state received advertisements and bought property
because they liked the area. It was not long before they wanted to change
the rules to be like where they lived before. Before long it turned out to
be like the reason they left.
What I am saying is that Conway has been dry with no liquor being sold, and
now outsiders have moved in and want it to be just like Little Rock and
other wet communities. I moved to Conway because I liked what it is and do
not want it to be like Little Rock. I know what liquor can do and has done.
I challenge the University of Central Arkansas to keep its campus drug and
alcohol free.
And let's keep Conway drug and alcohol free. There are far too many innocent
children and people maimed and killed by drug- and alcohol-related crashes.
Too many families broken up by drugs and alcohol.
