SUGGESTION FOR LEGALIZING MARIJUANA AN OUTRAGE
I can't believe that someone from Washington, D.C., would lobby for
legalization of marijuana for our children. I refer you to the Jan. 25
letter to the editor by Robert Sharpe, M.P.A., program officer, The
Lindesmith Center -- Drug Policy Foundation.
No matter what his title, Robert's position is a disaster for our
children. Robert believes that legalizing pot will save our children
from a life of crime. He apparently endorses the idea that if children
can get high on pot legally, they won't break into your house and
steal to feed their desperate habit.
Webster defines "habit" as, a thing done often; hence a usual way of
doing something. How do children develop the "habit" of using
marijuana, and how often is often when the source is illegal? If we
don't allow a "thing done often" to happen, you shouldn't have a
problem. If we continue to develop the "habit" of just saying No! to
drugs often enough, maybe child use of drugs will dry up.
One has to wonder if this drug-endorsing foundation is to get any tax
dollars or tax exemptions. It would be an outrage, a crime, a disaster
if our own taxes are used to promote the legalization of drugs for our
children.
Mr. Robert Sharpe's letter to the editor reflects a lost cause
attitude to the "War On Drugs," so give up and get high. Such a sick
attitude backed up by sick statements as questionable facts to support
a sick agenda is enough to make one ill. I believe we should be
supporting law enforcement groups like the Missouri River Drug Task
Force and D.A.R.E. before we ever support a liberal, no-solution,
pot-pushing group like the Lindesmith Center.
Write them, with me, to express your outrage to their drug acceptance
position of allowing marijuana in our schools. We need high achievers,
not high potheads.
