MAYOR THREATENS TO IMPOSE MARTIAL LAW IN ISLA VERDE
DAVAO City Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte said he will soon declare "martial
rule" in Isla Verde, Davao City, to curb the ever increasing
criminalities in the area.
Duterte acknowledged that the said area along Boulevard is a haven for
drug dealers and gang members.
He said even the barangay captain of the said area could not do
anything about it simply because his relatives are also involved in
the illegal activity.
He said he will look into the possibility of having the barangay
captain replaced by a better one.
"Alisdan na lang siguro nato ning kapitan (We'll replace this barangay
captain). We'll have to do some shortcuts here. Ambot pud ngano man
gud ninyo ni giboto ning kapitana ni (I don't understand why you voted
this person for the position)," Duterte said in his weekly television
program, "Gikan sa Masa, Para sa Masa."
He said he will be deploying plainclothes police officers in the area
to curb criminalities there, adding that if he needs to, he will
implement martial rule in the said area.
