VOICE MISSED BOAT ON CANNABIS VIEWPOINT

The Voice missed the truth on some important points (Pot More Popular
Than Cigs, Mar. 15, 2007) that must be exposed.

You claimed society, "doesn't know the risks of smoking marijuana,"
but conveniently fail to report what we do know. Cigarettes kill over
1,000 North Americans daily.

While in over 5,000 years of documented use there still isn't one
single dead body to show for cannabis use.

Dr. Cameron Duff said cannabis (kaneh bosm / marijuana) is a "drug,"
but isn't it really a Godgiven plant? You mentioned, "marijuana is
the gateway drug," yet even government studies historically discredit that one.

You allege, "economically, youth smoke cannabis rather than
cigarettes because it's cheaper," yet due to the plants prohibition
it actually costs as much as gold!

Fact is, cannabis is safer than alcohol or cigarettes, less
intoxicating than alcohol, less addictive than coffee and shouldn't
be prohibited from responsible adults.

Even Canada's 2002 Senate Committee on Illegal Drugs unanimously
recommended to regulate cannabis the same way as alcohol.

Cannabis shouldn't be used by children; however, intelligent adults
will choose it over cigarettes every time.

Perhaps The Voice should start over and report the truth.
