DRUG PROHIBITION SUPPORTS TERRORISM

I thank the Daily Mail for publishing Robert Sharpe's outstanding letter,
"Drug war is good for the crime business," on March 13.

Almost all of our so-called "drug-related" crime is caused by drug
prohibition -- not drugs.

When pure pharmaceutical-grade heroin was legally sold in local pharmacies,
nobody was robbing, stealing or committing acts of prostitution to obtain
money to purchase drugs.

They didn't have to, because their drug of choice was legal, thus available
for about the same price as aspirin.

Drugs don't support organized crime at home; drug prohibition does. Drugs
don't support international terrorists; drug prohibition does.
