HEMP ALTERNATIVE TO LOGGING
Editor:
The almighty buck for logging our watershed, or any other for that matter,
will never compensate for what it will do to our future generations.
Things come and things go, the land changes as mother nature knows too,
always following to an intrinsic beat. To choose to alter that path
ourselves by logging the land for purposes that ultimately equate dollar
signs and destruction is not logical.
There are many reasons to specifically talk about why we shouldn't allow
the logging of Elk Creek, but I would like to take it one step further. For
all the reasons we depend on logs to meet various demands of our lives,
there is one sustainable alternative that is logical-hemp.
The research available on this amazing plant clearly states that not only
would the process of growing and cultivating hemp for commercial uses clean
the air as it grew, but it is as strong if not stronger in its versatility
as a resource.
For all the uses we would traditionally use wood and oil, hemp can replace
doing the job just as well, if not better.
For those that see these views as naive, I would like to kindly remind you
that these industries, specifically the oil industry, is monetarily tied to
our governments and we all know how easy money clouds logic.
One last note, hemp and the catch phrase "cash crop" should give us all
some ideas about what direction to take when the next list of cuts come
through. Hemp, just read about it.
