ENCOURAGING DRUG USE?
As a father of three sons and a daughter, I have seen first-hand the
devastation of drugs in two of my sons and watched as the third spent two
years undercover trying to stamp out the destructive effects of the drugs
in his area. Drugs destroy families, communities and, as we can see in
Colombia, nations ["Jury backs Prop. 215," Opinion, March 20].
Somayah Kambui, from all evidence, was using a bad law to support her habit
and distribute the poison to her community. Unjust verdicts are the spawn
of a populace corrupted by the attitude that all police action in the
minority community is bigoted against the minority. A bad verdict doesn't
change the fact that drugs are killing our kids, destroying our communities
and, if unchecked, will ultimately drive us down the same road as our
friends in Colombia. By your editorial support of the use of drugs for
"medical purposes" you encourage the perpetrators to ever-more bold acts of
destruction.
