Editor, The Leader:
Re: Ladner tug seized in 'B.C. bud' haul (Leader, March 22).
Don't you think it's time you saw through the government propaganda that
drugs are prohibited to protect users? Users suffer more (adulterated drugs
and jail time) when a drug is banned as compared to when it is legal, and
besides, two of our more harmful drugs, alcohol and tobacco, are legal. My
wife and I became well acquainted with this policy when we lost our
19-year-old son to street heroin in 1993. Please make your drug stories
less one-sided in favour of the cops by including the comments of the
individuals arrested and their families as well as the comments of those
who oppose these laws.
In short, try to put a human face on the suffering.
