3 CHARGED WITH CONSPIRING TO DISTRIBUTE DRUGS
HIGH POINT - Three more people have been charged in a drug conspiracy case
involving seven others, five of them law enforcement officers.
According to U.S. District Court documents, a grand jury on Tuesday
indicted Chad Douglas Wilson, Elizabeth Ann Harward and Jonathan Eric Apt
on charges of conspiring with others in the distribution of substances
including anabolic steroids, Ecstasy and cocaine.
Their ages and addresses were not listed in the indictments.
Earlier this month, former Davidson County vice-narcotics officers William
Rankin Jr., 32, David Scott Woodall, 34, and Douglas Edward Westmoreland,
49, and former Archdale police officer Chris Shetley, 41, pleaded guilty to
numerous drug-related felonious charges.
Two other men, Marco Aurelio Acosta-Soza and Wyatt Nathan Kepley, also
pleaded guilty to federal drug and conspiracy charges.
The officers and two others had initially pleaded not guilty but later
changed the pleas. They will be sentenced in June.
In January, Thomasville police officer Russell McHenry pleaded guilty to
federal charges stemming from the case involving narcotics, marijuana and
distributing or dispensing a controlled substance.
The officers were accused of operating a ring that preyed upon drug dealers
by stealing drugs and cash. A federal indictment said the officers used
sheriff's office vehicles to transport drugs and used fake search warrants
to enter homes.
Court records show that Wilson is charged with conspiring with McHenry and
others to distribute Ecstasy. Harward is charged with conspiring with
Kepley and others to distribute anabolic steroids.
Apt is charged with conspiring with Woodall, Kepley and others to
distribute cocaine hydrochloride; distributing less than 50 kilograms of a
substance containing marijuana; distributing Ecstasy; and distributing
anabolic steroids.
