QUESTIONS ON POT LAW GO UNANSWERED

To the editor:

I have posed this question at least three times to the three main political
parties in Nova Scotia and at least twice to their national counterparts
during the past 23 days, but have received no replies. Perhaps it takes
longer than a week or two, or three, for the various political parties to
answer questions sent in by e-mail. Perhaps.

I would think that any law on our books that detrimentally, irrevocably
alters the lives of hundreds of thousands of our citizens each year would
have a sound, solid base of logic and reason to support it. And that this
basis, should be incontrovertible.

The structure supporting its existence would be of such an obvious nature,
that any questioning of its relevance should be met with a quick, decisive
and clear response. And that it could be done by e-mail.

So I shall ask again: why is it illegal for me to grow one particular type
of weed in my backyard, roll it into a cigarette paper, and smoke it in
front of my television set?
