TEEN DRUG TESTS WOULD HELP
Stephen Kaplan, assistant prosecutor for Macomb County, asserts that
students, if asked to take random drug tests, "are less likely to partake in
school programs and pursuits" ("Random drug tests for our students?" March
28).
He's probably right, in cases where students know the results of such tests
would be positive. For most kids, those who don't do drugs, the tests are
hardly anything to be concerned about, and an inconvenience they would
gladly put up with if it might help to discourage the deadly practice of
teen drug use.
