TEXAS: MISTRIAL IN ROLLOVER SUIT
A judge declared a mistrial in a lawsuit against Bridgestone/Firestone,
saying its lawyer misstated the role of marijuana in a Ford Explorer
rollover crash that plaintiffs say was caused by a faulty tire. Judge Craig
Estlinbaum of Matagorda County District Court scheduled an April 15 hearing
to discuss possible sanctions against the tire maker's lawyer, Morgan
Copeland, and to set a new trial date. The plaintiffs say Mr. Copeland
implied that the driver at the time of the accident had alone consumed a
quantity of marijuana that was in fact shared with two passengers.
