DRUG DOGS CAN BE A PARENT'S BEST FRIEND

When a drug dog identifies a person in school as having the smell of
illegal drugs, why would a parent not thank the police and school for the
"early wake-up call" that the young person may be involved with drugs in
some way?

This is the time for acting in the youngster's best interest, not by
attacking the authorities who are trying to help. Dogs have a sense of
smell more sensitive than ours and they are trained to detect drugs, such
as in airports.

There are so many possibilities: a youth could be hanging out with friends
who use drugs or holding drugs for a friend; delivering or selling drugs to
earn money or using drugs. All these things could be putting a person's
future at risk.

Why not get a drug assessment from one of the many community services
available? Why not get a blood test from a family doctor to confirm if a
person is an actual user or not? Why not buy a huge box of Milkbone
biscuits for the drug dog that did the whole family a favour in the first
place?
