Teen Allegedly Transported $2m in Heroin From Pakistan to England

LONDON (AP) - A 13-year-old British girl has been charged with smuggling
some $2 million (Cdn) worth of heroin from Pakistan, officials said today.

The girl was arrested at Manchester Airport in northern England after
stepping off a flight Monday from Islamabad. Customs officers recovered
12.7 kilograms of heroin.

The teenager, whose name was not made public, was place in the care of
social workers in Bradford, England, and will appear before magistrates on
Thursday.

"She appears to have been travelling alone," said Customs and Excise
spokesperson Matthew King.
